CAC

Certified Asbestos Consultant

The CAC license is required in California for professionals who provide asbestos consulting services, including inspections, assessments, and project monitoring.

The Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) license is a California-specific credential required for professionals who provide asbestos consulting services. Issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the CAC license authorizes individuals to perform asbestos-related activities including inspections, assessments, project monitoring, and preparation of asbestos-related documents.

To obtain a CAC license, candidates must meet strict education and experience requirements, complete specialized training in asbestos-related activities, and pass comprehensive examinations covering California asbestos regulations, health effects, sampling and analysis methods, and abatement procedures. License holders must also complete continuing education requirements to maintain their certification.

CAC-licensed consultants are authorized to perform critical asbestos-related services including building inspections, bulk and air sampling, preparation of asbestos survey reports, project design and specifications, and oversight of asbestos abatement projects. They must maintain detailed knowledge of California-specific regulations including Title 8, Title 17, and local air district requirements.
